Xiaomi Cars Introduce Advanced Safety Features for Electric Doors
Xiaomi cars are enhancing safety with new features for their electric doors, including 'dooring' collision warnings and obstacle avoidance. The N90 Max model utilizes multiple sensors to anticipate potential hazards.
Chinese technology outlet IT Home reported on August 25th about new features being introduced to Xiaomi electric vehicles, detailed in a Q&A session addressing consumer inquiries.
The Xiaomi Pengcheng N90 Max model now features electric doors equipped with an advanced safety system. This system integrates nine cameras, four millimeter-wave radars, and one forward-facing lidar sensor. These sensors enable the system to anticipate and warn against potential hazards during door opening, such as approaching vehicles or cyclists. If a risk is detected, the door will issue a warning and automatically pause its movement. Additionally, opening the door from the inside will now encounter resistance to prevent sudden movements that could endanger people or other vehicles.
The system also provides obstacle avoidance. In confined spaces, if an obstruction or person is detected, the door will stop and attempt to avoid the obstacle. If opening from inside, resistance is also applied. Once the obstruction is cleared, the door can resume its opening sequence.
Attention was also given to the Xiaomi Pengcheng N70 Max, specifically its rear seat's conversion into a sleeping surface. The manufacturer assures that the rear seatback, which partially extends beyond its support when laid flat for the bed function, can uniformly bear up to 200 kg. The company's accompanying mattress has also undergone rigorous testing, including pressure tests where it sustained a uniform load of 200 kg for 24 hours without structural damage.
Furthermore, Xiaomi confirmed that all Pengcheng models can be equipped with an optional rail-mounted table. This accessory is designed for convenience, allowing for temporary use as a workspace or dining area. When not in use, the entire table assembly can be stored in a dedicated bag in the rear trunk.
