Lu Weibing, a partner and president of Xiaomi's mobile division, acknowledged the company's 15-year milestone while outlining the future commitment to AI. This strategic pivot moves Xiaomi from its initial "for fans" ethos towards an aim to become a global leader in hard tech.
The first Xiaomi phone was launched on August 16, 2011, priced at 1999 yuan. Since then, the company has grown into one of the world's largest smartphone manufacturers. Most recently, Xiaomi has introduced its new Pengpai HyperOS 4 system, which is currently undergoing beta testing and rolling out to select devices.
Xiaomi's investment in AI is substantial, with plans to allocate at least 60 billion yuan over the next three years. The company's AI models, including its MiMo series, have already achieved notable recognition in global open-source model rankings.
