Xiaomi Completes Extensive Road Testing for New Vehicle Models
Xiaomi has completed over 4.28 million kilometers of road testing for its new vehicle prototypes, a process spanning 626 days through two winters and two summers.

Xiaomi announced the completion of extensive road testing for its initial new vehicle prototypes. The testing phase lasted 626 days, encompassing two winters and two summers, with 566 test vehicles deployed. A total of 4.28 million kilometers have been accumulated through real-world driving tests.
The testing reportedly began in October 2024 and concluded at the end of June 2026. The company emphasizes that prolonged testing under actual road conditions is essential for understanding user scenarios and improving safety and quality benchmarks.
The vehicles are understood to be part of the 'SkyNomad' or 'Xiaomi Pengcheng' line, positioned alongside the existing SU7/YU7 series. The Pengcheng series is designed as a spacious, 'smart variable space' SUV, contrasting with the SU7/YU7's focus on the 'driver's car' experience. While prioritizing interior space, the Pengcheng models also incorporate Xiaomi's engineering expertise in handling and ride dynamics.
The larger SUV body style is intended to provide a stable presence and flexible interior arrangements. Development efforts have focused on optimizing suspension feel and steering response to ensure ease of control and confidence, even for a larger vehicle. This approach aims to balance the need for substantial interior volume with agile driving characteristics.
As Xiaomi advances its automotive segment, the successful rollout of these new models could solidify its position in the competitive electric vehicle market, potentially attracting consumers seeking both advanced technology and practical interior design.
