Xiaomi launches crowdfunding for new metal travel suitcase

Xiaomi has opened crowdfunding for a new metal suitcase under its Mijia brand, priced at 1699 yuan. The unit features a chassis constructed from a 6-series aluminum-magnesium-silicon alloy frame and a 5-series aluminum-magnesium shell, utilizing a rivet-free assembly process.

The suitcase includes silent spinner wheels developed in collaboration with Hinomoto, which have undergone SGS noise and durability testing. The telescopic handle is composed of aerospace-grade alloy and is rated for 18,000 cycles with four adjustable height settings.

With a storage capacity of 37 liters, the suitcase is aimed at short-term travel. Interior features include a dual-sided U-shaped zipper organization system with an antibacterial-treated lining. Security is managed via a centralized TSA-approved lock that releases both latches with a single action.
