Xiaomi Push to Overhaul Message Categories and Add Subscription Functionality in August 2026
Xiaomi Push will implement new rules for message classification and introduce a subscription message feature starting August 1, 2026. The changes expand message types and clarify handling, impacting developer messaging strategies.

Beijing, China โ Xiaomi Push, the messaging service for Xiaomi devices, is set to undergo a significant transformation with new regulations taking effect on August 1, 2026. These changes, announced by China Tech IT Home, aim to refine message classifications and introduce a user-driven subscription model, altering how developers communicate with users on the platform.
The updated "Xiaomi Push 2026 Message Classification New Rules" will broaden the scope of message types from the current 16 to 75. While retaining two main categories โ "private messages" and "public messages" โ the new framework provides more precise definitions for the content and notification permissions associated with each message type, offering developers greater clarity.
A key addition is the "subscription messages" feature. This function requires users to actively opt-in to specific message categories before developers can send them notifications. Such messages will be treated with the same priority as private messages, ensuring user control. Eight dedicated categories are available for subscriptions, including news alerts, event reminders, and product updates.
For developers, the number of push channels an application can utilize will increase from eight to thirty. "Private messages" will be restricted to 41 specific, predefined use cases such as direct chats, call notifications, account security alerts, and transaction confirmations. "Public messages" will encompass a wider range of content, including news, software updates, promotional offers, and event announcements.
Developers currently using older message classifications will need to transition to the new system. Existing "personal subscription" channels will cease accepting new applications in August 2026 and will be fully deactivated by the end of 2026. Developers are advised to update their SDKs and integrate the new subscription functionalities promptly to ensure uninterrupted service delivery.
