Xiaomi Redmi K100 Pro to feature new Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 V Series processor
Xiaomi announced that its upcoming Redmi K100 Pro smartphone will be among the first devices to be equipped with Qualcomm's new Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 V Series chipset. The processor achieved over 4.09 million points in lab tests.

Xiaomi announced today that its upcoming Redmi K100 Pro smartphone will feature Qualcomm's new Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 V Series (SM8850-1-AB) flagship platform. The company's laboratory tests showed the system's overall benchmark score exceeding 4.09 million points, indicating a significant performance upgrade.
The new smartphone will also include a dedicated AI chip and an advanced 3D vapor chamber cooling system. Performance enhancements are further boosted by what the company describes as a "Rampage Engine" with deep tuning for maximum performance.
Qualcomm has also listed the new chip on its official website. The V Series version shares most specifications with the standard Snapdragon 8 Gen 5. It uses the same CPU configuration with two high-performance 4.6 GHz Oryon cores and six 3.62 GHz performance cores. The Adreno 840 GPU runs at 1.2 GHz, though its compute unit count is reduced from the standard version.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 V Series supports LPDDR5X memory and UFS 4.1 storage, integrating the X85 5G modem and FastConnect 7900 connectivity system. Qualcomm now offers four Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 variants, with this new V Series model allowing manufacturers to achieve flagship performance at a potentially lower Bill of Materials cost.
The Redmi K100 Pro series, slated for release on August 11, will be one of the first to adopt this new processor version. It remains to be seen if other manufacturers will also utilize this gaming-optimized platform in the future.
