Xiaomi Releases 18 Fold Foldable Phone
Xiaomi has unveiled its new flagship foldable smartphone, the 18 Fold, designed to offer a "middle ground" foldable experience combining a compact exterior with a larger interior screen.
Xiaomi officially announced the launch of its latest flagship foldable smartphone, the Xiaomi 18 Fold. The device aims to occupy a "middle ground" in the foldable phone market by offering a compact form factor when closed and an expanded display when opened.
The 18 Fold features a 5.38-inch external display when folded, making it pocket-friendly and easily manageable, resembling a small notebook or passport holder. When unfolded, it reveals a 7.58-inch internal display, providing a tablet-like viewing experience.
Under the hood, the Xiaomi 18 Fold is powered by the company's proprietary ็ๆ O3 AI chip and runs on the new Xiaomi HyperOS 4 operating system. It also integrates Xiaomi's MiMo large model for on-device AI capabilities. The phone's design includes a matte-finished Xiaomi Dragon Crystal Glass 3.0 back panel. The hinge mechanism, named "Dragon Bone Hinge," is engineered for smooth operation and stable positioning at various angles.
In its folded state, the device measures 117.8 x 83.6mm with a thickness of 10.68mm and weighs 219 grams. When unfolded, the thickness reduces to 5.02mm. The crease on the inner display is reportedly minimized to 30 micrometers, and the external screen is designed for comfortable one-handed use.
The launch comes amid growing interest in foldable devices. Market analysts project a 21% year-over-year increase in global foldable shipments by 2026, with anticipated new entrants expected to further shape the competitive landscape.
