Xiaomi releases MiMo-V2.6 language models as open source
Tech company Xiaomi has open-sourced its MiMo-V2.6 series of language models. The release includes the native multimodal MiMo-V2.6-Pro and MiMo-V2.6-Flash models.
Technology firm Xiaomi has released its MiMo-V2.6 series of language models under an open-source license. The series features the native multimodal MiMo-V2.6-Pro and MiMo-V2.6-Flash models. Xiaomi also provided research resources for reinforcement learning.
MiMo-V2.6-Pro scored 46 points on the Artificial Analysis Intelligence Index, outperforming Kimi K3 at 44 points and GLM-5.3 at 45 points, according to Xiaomi's cited comparison. The company stated it was the highest-ranked open-weight model on the index, while noting that leading closed-source models achieved 53 points.
The development involved reinforcement learning. Both models completed 30 reinforcement learning steps in under six days, utilizing approximately 750,000 trajectories. The reported costs were $2.62 million for the Pro model and $850,000 for the Flash model.
The release also adds capabilities in 3D spatial reasoning, multimodal perception, and computer-use functions, along with a desktop client.
