Xiaomi reports progress in industrial and residential robot testing
Xiaomi has reached operational milestones for its robotics unit, successfully deploying a humanoid robot for an eight-hour factory shift and testing autonomous household task completion.
Xiaomi’s robotics division has announced successful testing of its humanoid technology in both factory and residential environments. In an industrial setting, a Xiaomi humanoid robot completed an eight-hour shift at a sorting station, demonstrating the ability to autonomously correct errors and integrate with existing production systems.
In residential testing, Xiaomi initiated a pilot program at its youth apartment complex. Using the Xiaomi-Robotics-1 pre-trained model, the robotic system successfully executed a 30-minute sequence involving tasks across three rooms, including organizing furniture and cleaning. The system utilizes an agent-based framework to plan and manage household chores without manual intervention.
The underlying technology relies on Xiaomi’s VLA (Vision-Language-Action) models. The Xiaomi-Robotics-0 architecture allows for 80-millisecond inference latency using consumer-grade hardware. According to the company, these models were developed using 100,000 hours of real-world operational data to ensure scalability and performance in previously unseen environments.
