Chinese technology firm Xiaomi is preparing to launch a new generation of its self-developed 'Xuanjie' (Mysterious Ring) chip. The announcement was made by company president Lu Weibing during an earnings call, where he also indicated that several new flagship products are slated for release.

The new chip will succeed the Xuanjie O1, which was launched last year. Xiaomi has reported that over one million units of the O1 chip have been shipped across three different devices. Founder and CEO Lei Jun has previously stated the company's commitment to invest at least 50 billion yuan (approximately $7 billion) in self-developed chips over the next decade.

Investments in chip technology appear to be progressing, with reports surfacing about the development of the 'Xuanjie O3' chip. This chip is rumored to feature a complex three-cluster design and a clock speed exceeding 4 GHz. It is expected to debut in the upcoming Xiaomi MIX Fold 5 foldable phone.

The pursuit of in-house chip development is uncommon among mobile manufacturers. While major players like Apple and Samsung design their own System-on-Chip (SoC) solutions, many others rely on components from suppliers like Qualcomm and MediaTek. Xiaomi's strategic focus on chip technology aims to differentiate its offerings in a competitive market.
