Xiaomi Watch Updates to Include WeChat Features
Xiaomi announced that its wearable device lineup will receive monthly updates adding WeChat functionalities, including speech-to-text conversion.
Xiaomi has announced upcoming updates for its lineup of wearable devices, aimed at enhancing the WeChat experience. According to the company, several watch models, including the Xiaomi Watch S5, S4, and S4 Sport, will receive new features throughout the month. Updates are expected to begin rolling out this week.
A key addition will be the ability to convert voice messages to text for sending via WeChat. This feature has been a frequently requested item by users, and Xiaomi has been working towards its implementation. The company indicated that other products requiring external collaboration are still under active development.
Zhang Lei, General Manager of Xiaomi's Wearable Department, confirmed the update news, emphasizing the company's commitment to incorporating user feedback. He requested patience from users regarding other models, assuring them that the development is ongoing.
The latest updates are part of a broader plan announced in April, which detailed OTA updates for the period of April to September. These updates are set to cover multiple products, including the Xiaomi Watch 5, Redmi Watch 6, and Xiaomi Band 10.
