The long-running Chinese animation series "Xiyangyang and Huitailang" (喜羊羊与灰太狼) has drawn criticism following the release of new content featuring the character Mei Yangyang. Clips from the latest series, "Xiyangyang and Huitailang: Shattered Mountains and Seas" (喜羊羊与灰太狼之破界山海诀), began circulating online, sparking debate.
Viewers and media outlets shared segments depicting Mei Yangyang in poses and camera angles that have been interpreted by some as suggestive. Specific focus was placed on scenes where the character appears to be holding down her skirt in a high-wind situation and the accompanying overhead shots.
The production team behind "Xiyangyang and Huitailang," which has been running for 21 years, issued a statement addressing the controversy. They asserted that the design intention behind the character's actions and camera work was not to deliberately create inappropriate suggestions or cause discomfort to the audience.
