Chinese technology company XPeng plans to achieve mass production of its humanoid robots by the end of 2026, with deliveries expected to commence in the first half of 2027.

12 October 2026

Chinese automotive and technology firm XPeng has announced its intention to begin mass production of humanoid robots by the end of 2026. Deliveries are slated to start in the first half of 2027.

The company recently activated its robot production line, where its first high-level general-purpose humanoid robot completed automated assembly. This milestone signifies a transition from research and development to manufacturing, marking a significant step toward scalable production.

XPeng's "IRON" humanoid robot is designed for multimodal interaction, capable of recognizing faces and remembering conversational context. It supports seamless switching between multiple languages, including Chinese, English, and German.

Initially, the robots are intended for deployment in commercial settings such as retail stores and shopping malls. Future expansion plans include industrial and household applications. XPeng has also advanced its autonomous driving capabilities, rebranding its Robotaxi service as "XPENG YOYO," which is gradually being opened for public use and commercial exploration.
