Chinese electric vehicle maker Xpeng intends to offer its technology stack to more international automakers beyond its existing partnership with Volkswagen, seeking new revenue streams.
Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer Xpeng plans to expand its technology offerings to overseas automakers, aiming to establish new revenue streams beyond its current collaboration with Volkswagen. This strategic move was reported by Reuters, citing two individuals familiar with the matter.
The company intends to license its electrical and electronic architecture, cockpit systems, Turing AI chips, and advanced driver-assistance software. Potential clients could also include international software developers and automotive suppliers.
Furthermore, Xpeng is looking to extend its technology licensing and customization business into areas such as robotaxis, humanoid robots, and other physical AI applications. The existing partnership with Volkswagen was initiated in 2023 when the German automaker acquired a 4.99% stake in Xpeng for approximately $700 million.
