XPENG to Serve as OICA Secretary for UNECE Automated Driving Task Force

XPENG has been appointed as the OICA Secretary for a new UNECE task force focused on automated driving, aiming to facilitate global collaboration and information exchange among regulators and industry experts.

9 October 2026

XPENG will serve as the OICA Secretary for the newly established Task Force on Exchange of Scenario-Relevant Information (TF-ESRI), under the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE). This role supports the global effort to advance automated driving technologies through enhanced collaboration and data sharing.

The TF-ESRI, co-chaired by France and China, brings together regulatory bodies, approval authorities, technical experts, and industry representatives from various countries. Its primary objective is to share real-world experiences and insights related to the development and deployment of automated driving systems. XPENG, representing the International Organization of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers (OICA), will assist in the coordination and administration of the task force's activities.

This appointment underscores XPENG's commitment to international standardization and the safe development of automated driving. The task force's work is particularly critical as regulations like UN R185 and GTR26 move towards implementation. By facilitating the exchange of information on diverse road environments, traffic behaviors, and operational experiences, the group aims to build a broader understanding of the challenges and opportunities in automated driving across different markets.

XPENG's involvement in TF-ESRI builds on its previous active participation in international discussions on automated driving. The company's contribution is expected to foster a global knowledge-sharing framework that supports the safe, scalable, and globally aligned deployment of automated driving technologies and future autonomous mobility services.
