XPeng's robotics unit raises over $900m at $6.3bn valuation

Chinese technology firm XPeng announced that its robotics business has entered into share purchase agreements with several investors, raising more than $900 million. The post-money valuation for the unit is reported to be over $6.3 billion.

The funding round was led by IDG Capital, with participation from Gaorong Ventures. Strategic investments were also made by Tencent and Alibaba. The funds are earmarked to support the production of humanoid robots and advance Physical AI research.

XPeng's humanoid robot, named Iron, is projected to commence mass production by the end of 2026. Commercial deployments are anticipated to begin in 2027. This funding marks a significant step in XPeng's expansion into the robotics and artificial intelligence sectors.
