XRHealth, a provider of digital therapeutic technologies, has acquired the German medical device manufacturer Living Brain. The deal integrates the Heidelberg-based firm’s teora® platform, which utilizes virtual reality to simulate daily activities for patients undergoing cognitive rehabilitation, into XRHealth’s existing clinical network.

Living Brain’s primary solution, teora® mind, is an MDR Class IIa certified medical device that offers 25 interactive environments designed to facilitate neuroplasticity and cognitive recovery. Published research in journals such as JMIR Serious Games has indicated that this virtual approach may outperform conventional computer-based cognitive training in specific clinical domains.

XRHealth CEO Eran Orr stated that the move is part of an effort to build a comprehensive ecosystem for personalized digital care that operates beyond traditional clinical walls. The acquisition also provides XRHealth with tools for remote monitoring and motor rehabilitation, including the teora® body application and supervisor interfaces for therapists.

By incorporating these assets, XRHealth aims to scale the availability of evidence-based VR therapies. The company currently operates across 22 U.S. states and facilitates care via Medicare and commercial insurance programs.
