XSCACE Challenges Established Speaker Brands With Ultra-Thin Designs
Canadian startup XSCACE is developing ultra-thin speakers aiming to combine high sound quality with minimal space requirements, challenging long-standing design principles.

Canadian architectural audio startup XSCACE has developed new, ultra-thin speakers measuring just millimeters in depth. The company aims to address modern interior design trends that favor minimalism and discreet technology.
Traditionally, high-quality sound reproduction has required significant physical space for speakers to deliver depth and power. XSCACE seeks to overcome this limitation, often described by Hoffman's Iron Law, which dictates a trade-off between enclosure size, bass response, and efficiency. The company has developed six proprietary technologies, including Nano Resonance for compact drivers capable of deep bass and AeroFrame Chassis to reduce resonance.
Founder Utkarsh Hora's approach involves a holistic system design. Instead of optimizing individual components in isolation, XSCACE developed driver geometry, motor design, cone materials, and cabinet construction to work in concert, enabling high-fidelity audio without dominating interior spaces.
Following two years of development, XSCACE made its first commercial sale in January 2024. The product line currently includes the 12mm-thin Bonsai speakers and the 23mm-thin Cane speakers. XSCACE is expanding its distribution to international markets.
