Xteink E-Readers Gain Access to Free Books via Libby
New plugin support for CrossPoint Reader allows Xteink's devices to access DRM-protected ebooks. This change significantly enhances content accessibility for the e-readers.

Xteink's compact e-readers, specifically the X3, X4, and X4 Pro models, are set to receive improved access to digital books. This enhancement comes as developers of CrossPoint Reader, an alternative firmware for the devices, introduce support for third-party plugins.
One of the initial plugins developed by the community will enable access to DRM-protected ebooks borrowed through OverDrive's Libby library application. Previously, users of Xteink devices had to source DRM-free ebooks independently, limiting content options compared to devices like Kindle or Kobo.
CrossPoint Reader functions as a free, alternative firmware for Xteink devices, expanding their capabilities beyond the standard offerings. The new plugin architecture opens the door for various new features, with library ebook integration being one of the first significant additions.
This development is expected to broaden the available literary selection for Xteink users, making the devices more competitive in a market where extensive digital book access is a key feature.
