XYZ Robotics Automates BAUHAUS Goods Reception at Krefeld Facility

XYZ Robotics has implemented a fully automated goods reception system at BAUHAUS' large central warehouse in Krefeld, Germany. The new system covers the entire process from unloading shipping containers to assembling ready-to-ship pallets, aiming to improve operational efficiency and free up staff for more productive tasks.

The Krefeld facility handles thousands of items daily, with boxes varying significantly in shape, weight, and orientation. This complexity has posed a challenge for conventional automation. XYZ Robotics' RockyOne and RockyOne SE robots address this issue. The RockyOne autonomously unloads loose boxes from shipping containers, after which items are scanned and sorted in real-time. The RockyOne SE then assembles stable pallets according to customer-defined patterns, creating a continuous workflow.

Manual container unloading involves repetitive heavy lifting in confined spaces, contributing to high staff turnover and injury risks. The new robotic system shifts operators from heavy manual labor to supervising the system, requiring minimal training. According to BAUHAUS, the system has operated reliably 24/7 without manual intervention, allowing the team to focus on higher-value tasks.

BAUHAUS, a leading European retailer of home improvement goods with over 290 specialized centers in 19 countries, is exploring further applications of this technology within its network. XYZ Robotics, founded in 2018, provides mobile manipulation robots to logistics clients globally.
