XYZ Robotics Automates BAUHAUS Goods Reception Process

XYZ Robotics has announced the deployment of its RockyOne robots at BAUHAUS' central warehouse in Krefeld, Germany. The system automates the complete goods reception workflow, starting from unloading shipping containers to building pallets ready for restocking. This deployment aims to improve operational consistency and allow warehouse staff to focus on higher-value tasks.

BAUHAUS, a DIY store chain operating over 290 stores across 19 European countries, faces significant logistical challenges at its Krefeld facility, processing thousands of incoming deliveries daily. Traditional automation struggled with the wide variety of carton shapes, weights, and stacking methods. The XYZ Robotics solution, RockyOne, autonomously unloads mixed-pallet cartons from transport containers. Its integrated barcode scanning system sorts items in real-time, and the RockyOne SE robot then builds stable pallets according to predefined customer patterns.

The implementation addresses the physical demands of manual container unloading, which often involves repetitive lifting in confined and temperature-extreme environments, leading to high staff turnover and accident risks. With the robots handling these tasks, BAUHAUS employees now supervise the system via a tablet interface, requiring minimal training. The company reports that the system operates reliably 24/7 without manual intervention, prompting consideration for wider application across its network.

XYZ Robotics is expanding its European presence to support more warehouse and distribution operators, offering a full lifecycle support. Founded in 2018, the company specializes in mobile manipulation robots designed for automating truck loading and unloading, as well as full pallet picking.
