Y Combinator Sells Groww Stake for €1.4 Billion
US-based startup accelerator Y Combinator has divested a portion of its stake in Indian fintech firm Groww for over €1.4 billion, realizing a substantial return on its investment.

US-based startup accelerator Y Combinator has sold shares worth approximately €1.4 billion in Groww's parent company, Billionbrains Garage Ventures. The transaction, executed yesterday as per stock exchange data, represents a significant exit for the accelerator from one of its most successful Indian investments, yielding an estimated 55.7 times its initial capital.
The sale involved YC Holdings II LLC, an affiliate of Y Combinator, offloading 7.47 crore shares at ₹192.16 each. This marks a substantial profit, as the acquisition cost per share was reportedly as low as ₹3.45. To date, Y Combinator has cumulatively realized around €4.1 billion from its Groww investment.
Groww, which went public in India in November 2025, has seen Y Combinator engage in several partial exits post its IPO. Despite the latest sale, Y Combinator remains a substantial shareholder, holding 8.6% of the company's stock, amounting to 54.01 crore shares.
The fintech firm has demonstrated strong financial performance, reporting a 94.3% year-on-year increase in consolidated net profit for the first quarter of FY27. Groww's stock closed yesterday at ₹194.75 on the BSE, reflecting its market performance since its debut.
