Yale faces 13-count federal lawsuit over AI cheating dispute
Former student Thierry Rignol has filed a 13-count federal lawsuit against Yale University after being accused of cheating and suspended from its Executive MBA program.
A former student, Thierry Rignol, has initiated a 13-count federal lawsuit against Yale University, alleging breach of contract, defamation, and other claims. Rignol paid $208,500 for Yale's Executive MBA program.
According to the lawsuit, Rignol was suspended for one year and received a failing grade in the course "Sourcing and Managing Funds" following accusations of academic dishonesty. Rignol maintains he was a top student, on track to graduate first in his class.
The suit claims that Yale breached its contract with Rignol and erroneously accused him of cheating. Rignol asserts he was deprived of the opportunity to be named class valedictorian, an honor he claims to have earned under the university's own stated criteria.
The case has proceeded to federal court, where Rignol is seeking damages. Yale University has not yet publicly commented on the lawsuit.
