AMI Labs aims to develop "world models," foundational systems for artificial intelligence. LeCun, formerly Meta's Chief AI Scientist, has been actively recruiting former colleagues to join the venture. Reportedly, over 60 former Meta employees now constitute nearly 40% of AMI Labs' workforce.
The startup has attracted substantial investor interest since its inception, recently securing $600 million in funding from investors including Andreessen Horowitz and Lightspeed Venture Partners.
Analysis of personnel data indicates a significant portion of new hires come from Meta's AI research and product divisions.
