Year Up United Offers Career Pathways for Young Adults in Rhode Island

Year Up United has opened applications for its Customer Experience career pathway in Providence, with the program set to begin on October 19. The initiative is designed to help young adults without a bachelor's degree establish meaningful careers amid shifts in Rhode Island's labor market.

The tuition-free pathway includes training in banking and customer success. Graduates from the Providence program in 2026 are projected to earn an average of $25.04 per hour, and 76% of graduates in 2025 were employed or pursuing further education. The program combines classroom instruction with internships.

Citizens, a financial institution, has partnered with Year Up United for 20 years, providing internships to over 400 participants since 2005. Susan La Monica, Chief Human Resources Officer at Citizens, highlighted the company's commitment to developing young talent and building future workforces through mentorship and practical experience.

Year Up United CEO Susan Murray stated that in a changing job market, preparation is crucial. The organization's approach focuses on providing skills, experience, and professional connections to help young adults adapt and seize opportunities.
