YouTube Music Adds Conversational AI Features

YouTube Music is integrating new artificial intelligence features to make discovering music and podcasts more intuitive for its users. Announced in September 2026, these updates aim to streamline the user experience.

The new features, unveiled at the Made On YouTube event, include "Ask Music," a conversational tool for both music and podcasts, and "Your Podcast Lineup," a personalized guide for podcast discovery.

"Ask Music" functions directly within the YouTube Music app, allowing users to describe what they want to hear in natural language. This moves beyond traditional keyword searches for songs or artists. The tool works across YouTube Music's extensive catalog of over 300 million songs, encompassing official recordings, live performances, and covers.

Users can prompt "Ask Music" to generate custom playlists based on specific moods or themes, or to delve into the history and creation of songs. "Your Podcast Lineup" personalizes podcast recommendations based on listening habits, aiming to help users find new shows they might otherwise miss.

These enhancements signal YouTube's ongoing strategy to leverage AI within its entertainment platforms, enhancing content accessibility and personalization for its global audience.
