YPO Iowa Launches Innovation Challenge for Entrepreneurs

YPO Iowa's local chapter is launching an innovation challenge to support the state's emerging entrepreneurs and startups. The competition includes $20,000 in prize funding and networking opportunities with business leaders.

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa – The Iowa chapter of the Young Presidents' Organization (YPO) has launched its inaugural YPO Iowa Innovation Challenge. This statewide competition aims to foster innovation and support emerging founders within Iowa's startup ecosystem.

The event will take place on January 27, 2027, at Holmes Murphy in West Des Moines. The challenge will bring together promising collegiate entrepreneurs and Iowa-based startup founders to pitch their ventures to business leaders, investors, and mentors. Eight finalists will compete across two tracks: Collegiate Entrepreneurs and Iowa Startup Founders.

"The YPO Iowa Innovation Challenge is designed to connect Iowa entrepreneurs with experienced leaders and resources that can help turn promising ideas into thriving businesses," said Dan Keough, YPO Iowa Innovation Challenge Day Co-Chair. The initiative seeks to strengthen the state's business landscape and future.

Applications open October 1, 2026. Eligible applicants include students enrolled at Iowa colleges and universities, as well as early-stage companies headquartered and operating in Iowa. A total of $20,000 in prize funding will be awarded.
