Zafrens, a San Diego-based biotechnology firm, has closed a $6 million Series A extension round led by Trill Impact Ventures. The investment also includes participation from existing investor imec.xpand.
The company operates a platform designed for ultra-high-throughput experimental testing. By generating large volumes of biological data, the technology aims to assist researchers in validating drug discovery hypotheses more efficiently.
This funding marks the first foray into the TechBio sector for Trill Impact Ventures. The firm intends to support Zafrens as it integrates computational biology and data analysis to accelerate pharmaceutical development timelines.
The capital infusion provides Zafrens with resources to scale its experimental capabilities as it continues to refine its platform for broader application in the drug discovery market.
