Zee Moves Delhi HC Against Blinkit Over Alleged Copyright Violation

Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd (ZEEL) has filed a lawsuit against quick commerce company Blinkit in the Delhi High Court, accusing the platform of copyright infringement through content posted on its Instagram account.

During court proceedings, ZEEL presented screen recordings of alleged infringing material uploaded by Blinkit. The High Court has issued summons to Blink Commerce Private Limited, the operator of Blinkit, and scheduled further hearings for August 14.

The court has granted ZEEL an ex parte ad interim injunction and exempted the company from mandatory pre-institution mediation, citing the need for urgent relief.

Blinkit has been ordered to file a written response within 30 days of receiving the summons. This marks the third instance this year that Zee has pursued legal action over copyright concerns, having previously filed suits against Nykaa and JioStar.
