Zepzelca approved for first-line maintenance therapy in Qatar
Qatar's Ministry of Public Health has approved Zepzelca® (lurbinectedin) in combination with atezolizumab for first-line maintenance treatment of extensive-stage small cell lung cancer.
Immedica announces that the Ministry of Public Health in the State of Qatar has granted approval for Zepzelca® (lurbinectedin) in combination with atezolizumab (Tecentriq®).
The combination therapy is approved as a maintenance treatment for adult patients with extensive-stage small cell lung cancer (ES-SCLC) whose disease has not progressed after first-line induction therapy. The induction therapy consists of atezolizumab, carboplatin, and etoposide.
This approval in Qatar expands access to new treatment options for patients living with ES-SCLC in the region. Small cell lung cancer is an aggressive form of lung cancer often associated with a poor prognosis, particularly in its extensive stage.
Zepzelca® is derived from a compound originally isolated from a marine organism. It has previously demonstrated efficacy in extending survival and improving quality of life in specific cancer populations. The combination with atezolizumab offers a new therapeutic strategy for ES-SCLC.
