Zero Zero Robotics attempts to circumvent US drone ban with new Versa camera
Zero Zero Robotics' new Versa camera is designed to avoid official classification as a drone, potentially allowing its sale in the United States despite an upcoming ban.

Zero Zero Robotics, the owner of the HoverAir brand, is introducing its new $750 Versa camera, aiming to bypass the US ban on foreign-manufactured drones set to take effect in December 2025.
The company asserts that the Versa is not a drone but rather a mini gimbal camera that can have propellers attached for flight. This design distinction may allow it to be sold in the US, unlike previous HoverAir models such as the Aqua drone, which was impacted by the ban.
The ban, effective December 2025, targets future foreign drone imports. Zero Zero Robotics' strategy appears to be classifying the Versa primarily as a camera with optional flight capabilities to circumvent the prohibition.
The company has a history of producing drones with unique features, including foldable designs and water-landing capabilities. The Versa model continues this pattern by presenting a novel approach to drone marketing and regulatory navigation.
