Chinese artificial intelligence company Zhipu AI has achieved an annual recurring revenue (ARR) of $1 billion as of July 2026. This marks a significant milestone, with the company experiencing a 15-fold increase in ARR over the preceding five months.
The company's growth rate outpaces industry benchmarks. While it took Anthropic 15 months to grow its ARR from $100 million to $1 billion, Zhipu AI achieved this same growth in just five months between January and July 2026.
Zhipu AI has focused on enhancing its models' coding and reasoning capabilities, releasing a series of flagship models at a rapid pace. Its latest offering, GLM-5.2, released in June 2026, has demonstrated performance on par with or exceeding leading models like Claude Opus 4.8 and GPT-5.5 in key metrics.
This rapid development and market traction have also reflected in the company's valuation. Zhipu AI's Hong Kong-listed entity surpassed a market capitalization of HK$1 trillion for the first time in June 2026, with its stock price rising over 2000% year-to-date.
The company's strategic emphasis on coding abilities, evidenced by the open-source release of GLM-5.2 and its top performance in global coding assessments, positions it as a significant player in the AI sector.
