Zhipu Open-Sources ZCode Amid Data Dispute, Plans No-Retention Controls
Zhipu has open-sourced the code for its ZCode AI coding assistant on GitHub following a dispute over data handling. The company is also introducing data non-retention features for its MaaS platform.
AI technology firm Zhipu has made the source code for its ZCode coding assistant publicly available on GitHub. This move comes after the company resolved a dispute concerning data handling practices and completed remediation efforts.
ZCode is described as an AI coding workbench with components designed for desktop, browser, and terminal applications. The open-sourcing allows developers to inspect and utilize the tool's functionalities more freely.
In parallel, Zhipu announced that its MaaS (Model-as-a-Service) platform will soon feature a new option for users. This feature will allow customers to request that their data content is not retained by the service. For standard model calls, Zhipu states that inputs and outputs will not be stored statically and will only be used for the immediate request.
However, the data non-retention policy will not apply to all API paths. Data processed through batch APIs and file APIs, as well as information retained for legal, security, or abuse prevention purposes, may still be kept for a defined period.
