Zipline Hires Former Tesla, Uber, Waymo Executives to Scale U.S. Drone Deliveries
Drone delivery company Zipline has appointed former executives from Tesla, Uber, and Waymo to its leadership team to accelerate its expansion into new U.S. markets.

Zipline, a startup specializing in drone-based delivery services, has significantly bolstered its executive team with hires from major technology firms, including Tesla, Uber, and Waymo. These appointments signal the company's intent to scale its operations and make drone delivery a mainstream offering across the United States.
CEO Keller Rinaudo stated that Zipline anticipates its U.S. business to grow fifteenfold this year alone. The company has already surpassed 2.5 million commercial deliveries and currently completes one delivery every 20 seconds, a substantial increase from previous operational tempos. Recent partnerships with entities like Walmart and Chipotle highlight the company's diversification beyond its initial focus on medical supply delivery in Africa.
Among the key new hires is Sendil Palani, formerly a vice president of finance at Tesla, who brings extensive experience in scaling manufacturing and operations. Kevin Vosen, who previously held a role at Ohalo and has experience related to autonomous technology, joins as Chief Legal Officer. These additions are expected to drive Zipline's commercial expansion and operational efficiency.
Zipline's manufacturing facility in South San Francisco has the capacity to produce 24,000 drones annually. The company's expansion into healthcare home delivery services with partners like Cleveland Clinic demonstrates its commitment to integrating drone technology into essential services. Zipline aims to make delivery services as seamless as "teleportation," potentially reducing traffic congestion and pollution associated with traditional delivery methods.
