Zomato Bans Sale Of Analogue Dishes On Its Platform
Food delivery platform Zomato has implemented a zero-tolerance policy against the sale of dishes containing analogue dairy products. The move aims to enhance transparency and food quality for consumers.

Zomato, a prominent Indian food delivery platform, has announced a stringent policy prohibiting the sale of dishes containing analogue dairy products. The company has warned its restaurant partners that failure to comply will result in their removal from the platform.
Effective immediately, Zomato has removed from its platform any dishes that restaurant partners had declared as containing analogue dairy. Analogue dairy products are defined as substitutes designed to mimic conventional dairy items like cheese, butter, or milk, utilizing vegetable oils, starches, and other non-dairy ingredients.
Under the new directive, restaurants are required to either transition to using natural dairy products or remove menu items featuring analogue ingredients if an immediate switch is not feasible. Restaurant partners must also meticulously review supplier product labels and ingredient declarations to ensure accurate representation of ingredients used and food items listed on Zomato.
"At Zomato, our core mission is better food for more people, and that means safeguarding customer health and upholding clear standards for what's listed and served by our restaurant partners," stated Zomato CEO Aditya Mangla. This policy is part of Zomato's broader commitment to promoting healthier food choices and increasing disclosure surrounding food sold through its platform.
The decision reflects a growing scrutiny of food quality, ingredient transparency, and the accuracy of claims made by food businesses on delivery platforms. It also aligns with increased regulatory focus on food safety and hygiene, as online platforms become increasingly vital channels for food consumption.
