Zomato Pilots AI-Powered Voice Bot For Food Orders
Food delivery company Zomato is piloting an AI-powered voice bot allowing users to order food using voice commands. The feature is currently available in select areas of Bengaluru for a limited number of users.

Indian food delivery platform Zomato is currently testing an artificial intelligence-powered voice bot that enables users to place food orders using voice commands. The company has confirmed the feature's pilot in specific pockets of Bengaluru, accessible to a select group of users.
The AI bot is designed to engage in conversational ordering, understand user preferences, and provide personalized recommendations. This initiative aligns with Zomato's broader strategy to integrate generative AI across its services and enhance user experience in the competitive food delivery market.
This is not Zomato's first foray into AI; the company previously launched an AI chatbot for food and restaurant recommendations and an AI-native customer support platform called Nugget. Zomato also partnered with Google earlier this year to integrate restaurant reservations into Google's AI Mode.
Internally, Zomato's logistics team already utilizes a voice bot to guide delivery partners through the order process. The company has also developed an internal AI tool that has drastically reduced the cost of evaluating voice bot call performance.
These advancements come as Zomato seeks to solidify its position in India's rapidly growing foodtech ecosystem. The company has recently introduced various features, including subscription services for healthy meals and expanded affordable meal options, to cater to a wider customer base.
