ZTE Releases U25 5G RedCap Portable WiFi Device
Chinese technology company ZTE has launched the U25 portable WiFi device, supporting 5G RedCap and WiFi 6 technologies. The device aims to offer improved connectivity and battery life.

Chinese technology firm ZTE has introduced the U25, a new portable WiFi device that supports 5G RedCap technology. This feature is designed to enhance energy efficiency and extend device standby time compared to standard 5G, while offering a significant speed increase and reduced latency over 4G LTE networks.
The U25 integrates 5G RedCap with WiFi 6 capabilities, allowing up to 32 devices to connect simultaneously on the 2.4GHz band. It features a built-in, removable 3050mAh battery, which the company states can provide up to 8 hours of operation based on laboratory tests. The device measures 108mm x 59.8mm x 18.9mm and weighs approximately 121 grams with the battery.
Connectivity options on the U25 include support for both internal and external SIM cards (nano-SIM). The device comes with ZTE's official dual-network data, manageable via an app, enabling flexible network switching. Various data plans are available, with introductory offers for new users.
Performance specifications indicate theoretical maximum speeds of 226 Mbps for 5G RedCap downloads and 120 Mbps for uploads. For 4G LTE, theoretical maximums are 150 Mbps download and 50 Mbps upload. The device has obtained national 3C certification, making it suitable for travel and various usage scenarios. It is priced at 179 yuan.
