Dr. Mirza brings nearly 25 years of experience in drug discovery and development, with a focus on metabolic diseases, translational science, and preclinical pharmacology. His background includes leadership roles at Septerna, Ascendis Pharma, Gilead Sciences, and XOMA, where he contributed to advancing programs through regulatory stages.
In his new role, Dr. Mirza will oversee R&D execution at Prolynx. The company is developing a new generation of medicines designed for extended release, aiming to improve patient adherence and treatment outcomes for chronic metabolic diseases. Slone Partners, an executive search firm specializing in life sciences, facilitated the placement.
Prolynx is backed by investors including 5AM Ventures, OrbiMed, and Monograph Capital. The company's technology aims to develop treatments that could be administered monthly or quarterly, addressing limitations in current metabolic disorder therapies.
