Apple is currently conducting internal tests on iOS 27.4, according to reports tracking software engineer activity. This minor update is anticipated for release in the spring of 2025.

The testing of iOS 27.4 is proceeding concurrently with the development of the larger, fall release, iOS 27.0. Historically, .4 versions of iOS typically focus on bug fixes, performance enhancements, and security patch refinements rather than introducing significant new features.

The major iOS 27.0 update, unveiled at WWDC 2026, is currently in its developer testing phase, with public beta expected mid-July 2026 and a full release scheduled for September 2026 alongside new iPhone models. This upcoming system is compatible with devices running iOS 26, starting from the iPhone 11 and second-generation iPhone SE.

iOS 27.0 will introduce several key advancements, including an updated Siri powered by Apple Intelligence, enhanced camera features with visual intelligence, AI-driven wallpaper generation in Photos, automatic tab organization in Safari, and natural language support for creating reminders and calendar events.
