The Yungas Road in Bolivia, famously nicknamed "The Road of Death," is recognized as the world's most perilous route. Stretching 70 kilometers through the Andes, this gravel track has historically been the site of numerous fatalities, with an estimated 200 to 300 accidents annually before a bypass was constructed in 2006.
Built in 1930, the road features steep cliffs, narrow sections, and lacks guardrails, making it treacherous, especially with unpredictable weather and frequent landslides. While still used by adventurous mountain bikers, its dangers are contrasted with Germany's accident hotspots. In Germany, the Kieler Strasse in Hamburg recorded the highest number of traffic accidents in 2022, with 53 incidents, highlighting urban traffic risks.
